It’s the silence that haunts the hallways.

The spaces you used to fill empty.

The words you’ll never say.

The things we cherish just an impression,

Left behind, burned in thought.

That’s when it all falls apart.

When the skies turn grey,

The ground opens up,

To take you away.

The world tries to tell you how to be.

What to say, how to feel and what we see.

The crowd disappears, people slip away.

Left alone, fading in and out of reality.

It’s the thought of yesterday,

What could have been.

The things I didn’t get to say.

The light is in your smile.

The things you taught me to say.

Your wisdom in tested waters.

You could walk a mile,

And never see the shadows.

You were always looking towards the light.

Warm tears fall,

Hearts bleed and build walls.

Days flash ahead,

Time too short.

Loneliness creeps in like water

Trying to undo what you built.

But I hold fast,

To remind the world of your voice.

You were the treasure,

You were the peace.
